Missions: Dallas Cup
Ministry on the left side of the cross can take many different forms. Recently FBC Frisco had a tremendous opportunity to use a youth soccer tournament with an international scope to share the love of Jesus. Praise God that the opportunity led to 56 young men who had placed their faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins.
The Dallas Cup is an annual international soccer competition that brings top-level soccer teams composed of boys between the ages of 12 and 17 from around the world to Frisco, TX. During the week of April 2nd, approximately 250 players and coaches from about 15 teams visited the hospitality center set up in the church. The hospitality center was designed to serve as a place of rest for the teams and coaches between games. Wow! Did they ever take advantage of it! Teams from South Africa, Mexico, England, Japan, the U.S. and several other South American countries showed up.
Churches from around the metroplex provided lunch and dinner to the teams. Coaches and players played arcade games, shot pool and relaxed in the church's café. They also hung out with youth from the church.
We are already making plans to host the hospitality center again next year for the Dallas Cup. It was a great opportunity to bring the mission field to our church. Special thanks goes out to Ruth Green for leading this effort and to the dozens of volunteers from FBC Frisco who gave of their time to share the love of Jesus.
